Welcome to Little Tree Huggers (LTH), the most highly acclaimed nature-based Preschool in the United States!

 

LTH is a partnership of bilingual environmental educational initiatives founded in Leesburg, Virginia and dedicated to breaking down barriers to Sustainability in all areas of society.  Together with LTH Earth Center, our nonprofit, nondenominational environmental educational initiative focused on growing the LTH family, LTH is committed to setting the example for Sustainability education world-wide.

 

LTH Earth Center is the evolution of LTH LLC, a home-based Preschool, licensed by the Virginia Department of Education to operate with a maximum of 12 children, ages 2 1/2 - 5, since 2015. Due to an overwhelming response to our curriculum and award winning environmental commitments, like solar and geothermal, we were urged by the local community to embark on the process of expanding LTH into an environmental educational center able to impact the lives of hundreds of more children and families. LTH Earth Center was incorporated in 2020 as the charitable arm of LTH LLC and has worked tirelessly to:

- Ensure our teachers receive adequate compensation.

- Convert four additional acres purchased in 2023 to meet the zoning and licensing requirements for a wildlife sanctuary and expanded educational center, able to accommodate an additional 12 children.

- Help feed our growing number of rescue animals.

- Grow LTH into freestanding elementary educational center.

Our Earth Center and mid-nineteenth century bank barn will remain the location for all ceremonies, family gatherings, and training!

 What We Do 

& WHAT MORE WE CAN DO WITH YOUR HELP!

  

We offer a five day a week, rain or shine farm-based educational program out of two contiguous locations, each licensed for 12 children, ages 2 1/2 - 5, 12 months out of the year!  That means we operate year round, only closing for National Holidays, Winter and Spring Break, Summer Break (the first two weeks of every July) and the last week in August, for teacher training. (See our Programs Tab and Parent Teacher Handbook for details.)

Our goal is to inspire children, their families and even local businesses to connect with nature, care for the environment and celebrate the diversity of our multicultural world. To this end, parents are required to conduct 8 hour of community service at LTH per year.

We believe that an eco-green environment is essential for the development of healthy minds and bodies. LTH’s unique farm setting coupled with plenty of surrounding nature, comfortably and uniquely creates an excellent foundation for your child’s future education.

Expect your child to spend 75% of his/her time outdoors daily!

- Expand by updating a nearby parcel of land, which will be destined as a wildlife habitat and Earth Center.

- Attract and maintain the most committed and professional cadre of educators.

​

- Help feed our Rescue Animals.
